Ana Martin Larrañaga is the award-winning illustrator of more than 60 children’s books. She was born in San Sebastian and grew up in the countryside of Castilla together with her four siblings and lots of cousins. As a child her favorite pastime was to have fun climbing almond trees and eating the almonds. Ana studied Fine Art in Salamanca, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design. Ana moved to Scotland with the intention of working for Burger King, who ended up not giving her the job because her English was so bad. She stayed on in the UK for seven years and her English got much better but by that time she had already decided to become an illustrator after attending summer school classes with the Spanish illustrator, Asun Balzola. Ana lived in New York for some time before moving to Germany, where she now lives happily with her family. She doesn’t have a dog or a goat but is always thinking of getting one because her eldest son is constantly asking her for one of each. Ana enjoys swimming in Summer and sledding in Winter. Some of Ana´s clients include Usborne Publishing, Simon & Schuster, Little Tiger, Little Bee Books, Penguin Random House, Hachette, Harper Collins, and Scholastic.
