About the ILLUSTRATOR

Silvana Di Marcello was born in Legnano, Italy. She now lives and works in Martellago, near Venice, Italy.
In 2002 she approached the world of children’s illustration by attending courses held at the School of Illustration in Sarmede (TV), Italy.
In 2006 she illustrated her first book: “Hulù and the Stormy Wind” for the publishing house Larus in Bergamo, Italy.
Later she began collaborating with the Giunti publishing house in Florence, Italy and has illustrated: “The Princess Sabbiadoro”, “L’Albero delle 1,000 Dolcezze”, “Il Delfino e l’Anguillina”; “Filastrocche sotto la Neve” and “Tante Fiabe per Giocare” for them.
She has also illustrated “The Railway Children” for the Ladybird publishing house in London, England.
In Germany she has collaborated with the publishing house Schwager und Steinlein illustrating: “Good Night Stories”, “1001 Arabian Nights” and “Yearbook 5”.
She has illustrated two volumes of books for the secondary school series “Lettori si diventa” for the Pearson Italia in Milan, Italy.
For the La Spiga publishing house, she has illustrated a reading book for their elementary school program.
Her illustrations have been selected on various occasions at the “Scarpetta d’oro” illustration contests and those organized by the Pictor Academy of Turin, where in 2005, she won a merit prize for the illustration “Il soldatino di piombo” , in 2013 an honourable mention for the illustration “Mignolina” and in 2016 the second prize for the illustration “Noi e l’altro”.
